Chex Party Mix

By

Wayne Parker, About.com Guide to Fatherhood
Our family totally loves snacking while having a game night, watching a football game or just spending time together at home. This recipe for a Chex-based party mix is easy to make and it tastes just great.

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 1 hour, 50 minutes

Total Time: 2 hours, 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups Corn Chex cereal
  • 3 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 3 cups Wheat Chex cereal
  • 3 cups Cheerios cereal
  • 3 cups pretzel sticks or mini-pretzels
  • 1 large can of mixed nuts
  • 1 cup of butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons seasoning salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Preparation:

Mix the Chex cereals, Cheerios cereal, pretzel sticks or mini-pretzels and mixed nuts in a six quart or larger slow cooker

Separately mix the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, seasoning salt and garlic powder

Pour liquid mixture over the dry mixture and mix well

Cook for 90 minutes in the slow cooker on high, stirring frequently

Turn the slow cooker temperature down to low and cook for an additional 20 minutes, stirring frequently

If you don't have a large enough slow cooker, you can cook the mix in an oven preheated to 250 degrees and bake for one hour, stirring every 15 minutes.

After baking in the oven or the slow cooker, spread the mixture out on a cookie sheet covered with paper towels and allow to cool.

Store the finished party mix in an airtight container until ready to serve.
