Helping Kids Dress Modestly

Finding Modest Clothing

By Wayne Parker, About.com

When you are ready to go shopping with the kids, you may be surprised to find that there are, in most stores, fewer choices of clothing that would meet your modesty standard. Given recent publicity about school dress codes and the like, perhaps brick and mortar retailers will respond with more modest fashions for our children.

But the e-tailing industry has responded in a big way to the desire for modest clothing. Shopping for clothing online can be tricky, but you may want to sit down with the kids at the computer and do a little online shopping at one or more of the following retailers:

Long Undershirts and Camisoles (to let your girls wear current fashions modestly):

Shade Clothing
Layers Clothing
Kate's Camisoles
Modbe Clothing
Missionary Mall

Modest Casual Attire (for everyday and school wear)

KneeShorts
Great Lengths
My Wife's Closet

Formal and Prom Wear

Kathleen's Bridal
Totally Modest
LDS Proms

A little creativity can go a long way in helping your children be style conscious and yet modest. Communicate your standards for them and help them find resources for meeting their need to dress in current styles and still be modest.
