Being a Successful Scout Leader

Monday July 10, 2006
Troop 732 and it's veteran Scoutmaster (me!) leave for summer camp this morning. We will have nine Scouts ages 12-13 for six days at scout camp. This is my fourth summer camp as a scoutmaster, and I am excited about being with the boys, including my youngest son, and helping them through this week of fun and adventure. I've compiled some ideas from veteran Scouters about what it takes to be a great Scout leader. After long involvement in the Boy Scouting movement, I can recommend its program to any boy who shares Scouting's values and wants a great experience during their young teen years.
